Rayhaan Vantage: Dry Frankincense on a Familiar Pyramid

Dry resin is what Rayhaan Vantage is about. The Emirati house Rayhaan makes this 100 ml fragrance for any wearer, and it opens on cardamom, bergamot and pink pepper, then turns to frankincense, myrrh and juniper before settling on vanilla, cedarwood and patchouli.

On paper it resembles a fragrance many buyers already know. Sellers often describe Vantage as an inspired version of Decision, and a shared pyramid reveals less than it seems, so it is worth understanding why before you order.

The Pyramid

  • Top Notes: Cardamom, Bergamot, Pink Pepper.
  • Middle Notes: Frankincense, Myrrh, Juniper Berries.
  • Base Notes: Vanilla, Cedarwood, Patchouli.

Frankincense is the centre of gravity. As in any incense-led fragrance, resin supplies a dry, smoky spine to the heart, and the woods carry it onward.

Vantage at a Glance
  • Character: Spiced citrus at first, then incense and juniper, with dry woods and a hint of vanilla below.
  • Sweetness: 4 out of 10. Vanilla stays in the base and is kept in check by cedar and patchouli.
  • Bottle: 100 ml of unisex eau de parfum.
  • Ideal for: Autumn and winter evenings, and anyone who prefers resin to sugar.
  • Not for: Anyone expecting it to match another fragrance exactly. A similar pyramid does not guarantee a similar formula.

Moving Through the Scent

The opening is spiced more than sweet. Cardamom leads with a green, cool edge, pink pepper contributes a crackle, and bergamot holds everything aloft.

Resin takes over quickly. Frankincense and myrrh lay down a dry smoke through the middle, while juniper cuts across it with a piney edge that recalls gin.

In the base, cedarwood and patchouli keep things dry, while vanilla rounds off the corners without making it a dessert.

The character stays serious from start to finish. There are no fruits and no flowers, and very little sugar until the very end, an austere shape that is not common in modern releases.

Setting It Beside Decision

Sellers typically present Vantage as an inspired-by version of Decision. The other fragrance is reportedly built the same way: pink pepper, bergamot and cardamom at the start, then frankincense, juniper and myrrh, and finally patchouli, cedarwood and vanilla.

Rayhaan lists its nine notes in those same three layers on its own website, so the claim takes a minute to check rather than being passed along by word of mouth.

We have not independently verified the other fragrance. Treat the comparison as the market’s own description of Vantage, not as a statement about its formula.

Why a Matching Pyramid Is Not a Matching Perfume

A pyramid names materials but not proportions, and proportions are where most of a perfumer’s decisions live.

Strength matters too. An extrait packs in far more oil than an eau de parfum does, and that alters the richness and staying power of identical notes.

Grade is invisible on the list. Frankincense can be a steam-distilled resin or a far cheaper rebuild, yet the label spells both the same way.

Nine names also never means nine ingredients. Most scents contain dozens of materials, and a pyramid lists only the ones the brand chooses to highlight.

The honest conclusion is a narrow one. Vantage shares its listed pyramid with another fragrance, and only your own nose can judge whether it delivers that structure.

Longevity

The base leans on slow materials: cedarwood, patchouli and vanilla release gradually, and resins like frankincense and myrrh rank among the slowest in perfumery.

Cold weather is its season. Resin and dry wood fade in warm air, and only the cardamom opening is built for heat.

Because it is an eau de parfum built on resins that reward generosity, apply it with a fuller hand rather than a timid one.

Buy It, or Pass

Choose it for a dry frankincense fragrance. Resin, juniper and cedar persist through the entire wear, and vanilla never takes control.

Pass if you already own the fragrance it is compared with. A shared pyramid is a reason to be curious, not a reason to keep both bottles.

Also pass if sweetness or fruit is what you want. Vantage has neither, and the cardamom and juniper give it a cool, slightly medicinal character that some people dislike at first sniff.
