Spirit of Dubai Turath EDP: Dense, Layered and Built to Be Noticed

The name is the best place to begin. Turath is the Arabic word for heritage, a term for what is handed down through generations, from customs and crafts to shared knowledge. The Spirit of Dubai, a luxury line from Nabeel Perfumes, uses the word as a tribute to the city’s cultural roots. This unisex eau de parfum, launched in 2019, carries that idea into an unusually detailed composition.

Spirit of Dubai Turath Fragrance Notes:

  • Top Notes: Dried Fruits, Damask Rose, Candied Fruits, Strawberry, Apple, Coffee.
  • Middle Notes: Agarwood, Rose, Saffron, Sandalwood, Cedar, Jasmine, Iris.
  • Base Notes: Incense, Smoke, Vanilla, Leather, Ambergris, Amber, Patchouli.

Forty-seven notes is the headline figure, and the pyramid behind it is large. It counts eighteen in the top, twelve in the heart and seventeen in the base, though the lists above name only the most prominent ones. Coffee sits beside coconut, cumin keeps company with candied fruit, and the damask rose shows up early instead of waiting for the heart.

Why So Many Notes Still Make Sense

A pyramid this size could easily turn into noise, yet the notes gather into clusters rather than competing one by one. Dried fruits merge into a single accord, the florals form one bouquet, and the resins create a shared warm foundation. The abundance produces order.

Early on, the blend can feel crowded, so it rewards a little patience. Over time it sorts itself into distinct chapters: fruit first, florals and oud next, and finally smoke with leather and vanilla. The changes between stages are gradual, as if the ingredients take turns.

The Wear Journey, Stage by Stage

The first minutes are generous and bold. Dried and candied fruits bring a rich, sherry-tinged sweetness. Apple, peach and strawberry add brightness, coconut brings a creamy tropical note, and coffee contributes a roasted bitterness. Bergamot lifts the blend, and cumin with cinnamon supplies an earthy warmth as the damask rose blooms.

The heart settles into woody-floral depth. Oud takes the lead with a smoky, sacred presence, while rose and jasmine add classic floral warmth and saffron adds a golden, leathery spiciness. Iris and violet bring a powdery softness, and sandalwood and cedar frame the flowers.

In the drydown, incense and smoke add a sacred depth, leather brings dark, polished warmth, and ambergris gives a salty, musky staying power. Vanilla and amber add golden sweetness, patchouli and vetiver ground it in earth, and civet adds a feral, animal edge. Labdanum and balsams finish it with a resinous glow.

Who Will Appreciate It

Turath suits collectors who want a truly niche scent with layered richness and a clear sense of place, and it rewards anyone who enjoys complex compositions that show something new each time they are worn. It also fits those drawn to the dried fruit, oud, leather and incense family of Arabian perfumery, and anyone looking for a bold cold-weather statement.

If simple, clean or airy scents are your preference, look elsewhere, since this one is dense and deliberately maximalist. Its strong, room-filling projection also makes it a poor fit for tight spaces and shared offices.

Performance and Application

The foundation is anchored by long-lasting materials. Labdanum and balsams, along with ambergris, amber, leather, smoke and incense, keep the dry-down steady, and the fragrance stays present through much of the day and clings to clothing too. Its presence is strongest in the first few hours.

Two sprays are usually enough. It projects boldly at first and then settles into a warm skin scent. Cooler weather suits it best, because the fruit, oud and leather profile deepens in the cold, so it lingers in memory as much as in the air around you.
