Rayhaan Pharaoh EDP: A Dark Smoky Leather Oriental for Cold Nights

Rayhaan Pharaoh suits the colder months and the evenings when you want your fragrance to be noticed. It is a smoky, leather-led oriental with a roasted coffee heart and a sweet amber base, and it arrived in 2026. The smoke here is deliberate, the leather is dark, and the sweetness is kept on a short leash, so the character of the scent always stays in the foreground.

Not everyone will take to a fragrance this direct. Some people find it striking and memorable, while others find it too much, and that divide is part of its identity. If you already enjoy deep, shadowy scents, it is likely to feel like a natural addition to your collection.

Rayhaan Pharaoh Fragrance Notes

  • Top Notes: Saffron, Cardamom, Boozy Notes, Cade Oil.
  • Middle Notes: Suede, Coffee, Benzoin.
  • Base Notes: Vanilla, Guaiac Wood, Tonka Bean, Amberwood, Labdanum.

How the Notes Unfold Over Time

Pharaoh takes its time to reveal itself. The opening is the most confrontational stage. Cade oil, the tar-like smoky material distilled from cade juniper, leads the way, with saffron bringing a metallic, leathery golden warmth and cardamom adding a warming spice. A boozy accord gives the first minutes a dark, slightly fermented sweetness, and the whole picture is loud and immediate.

After roughly twenty minutes the mood shifts. Roasted coffee arrives with a bitter, espresso-like depth, closer to beans roasted past medium than to sweet coffee. Benzoin contributes a balsamic, vanilla-tinged warmth, and suede softens the rough edge of the smoke. This is the stage where the scent begins to feel more inviting, and where a wearer who was unsure at first may start to change their mind.

The base is where the name seems to fit. Vanilla brings a creamy softness, tonka bean a powdery sweetness, and guaiac wood a creamy, faintly smoky woodiness. Amberwood adds resinous warmth and labdanum a deep, ambery, slightly animalic note. What lingers is sweet vanilla and amber, with a faint trace of smoke still running underneath, so the drydown feels far warmer than the opening.

Give the Bottle Time

Strong smoky fragrances often improve with a little rest. Straight from the bottle, the cade oil can read as sharp or rubbery, and many wearers find that a few weeks in a cool, dark place lets the resins and spices settle into one another. Over that time the harshest, most phenolic edge tends to soften, and the coffee and vanilla beneath come forward.

Store the bottle away from heat and light, and try not to judge it on the first few minutes from a freshly opened bottle. Many people give up on smoky scents too early, and this one has far more to say once it has settled.

Wearing It Well

A little goes a long way. Two or three sprays on the pulse points are plenty, especially on cool evenings. Pharaoh projects with confidence and stays on skin for a long time, so it does not need heavy application. A spray on clothing carries the trail further still, and in a small room one or two sprays will do.

Because the opening is so forceful, it is worth timing your application to the occasion. Apply it before a cold evening out or a dinner where you want a memorable presence, and let the coffee and suede heart take over once you are settled in. The fragrance rewards people who stay with it for the full progression.

Is It the Right Choice for You?

It suits you if:

  • You love smoky, incense-rich and leather-forward perfumes, and you do not mind a fragrance that divides opinion.
  • You are after a dark, niche-style leather and smoke scent at a more accessible price.
  • You want a cold-weather evening scent with a bold, lasting presence.
  • You are already a Rayhaan fan and want the brand’s darkest, most dramatic side.

It may not be for you if:

  • You are sensitive to smoke, cade oil or tar-like notes. The opening can feel like a campfire, and resting the bottle softens it without removing it, so the first impression stays strong.
  • You want something universally pleasing. Pharaoh is designed to stand out, and not everyone will warm to it.
